I have ideas for my new kitchen but don't know where to start. What's the first step?
Begin with a general idea of the appliances you might like to have. For starters, don't worry about what you think will fit your space or your budget, as now is the time to dream big. Just tell us what your heart desires, and we'll work together to make that happen. Next, think about how you want your new space to feel— crisply organized, warm and cozy, dramatic or understated. Gathering magazine photos of rooms you like will help communicate your ideas (and the photos needn't necessarily be kitchen photos). Also visit our Design Gallery. Our designers are standing by to help you get started.

I am remodeling my kitchen, but not changing the footprint. How can I maximize my storage space?
University researchers have found that you can increase your storage space up to 30 percent just by using adjustable shelves and undermount slides, which are standard on all Schroll cabinets. Effective use of our optional cabinet accessories helps, too. We will also help you figure out how best to utilize your existing space so that you make the most of your valuable kitchen real estate.

Besides kitchens, what other kinds of cabinets do you make?
Schroll designers create dozens of baths, libraries, dens, bars, and laundry rooms every day. We can build any cabinet you can dream up and we'll design them for every room in your home. We've even designed Schroll cabinetry for sports equipment storage and workshop spaces in garages—really nice garages, but garages nonetheless.

What wood should I choose?
We have six wood species—cherry, maple, hickory, knotty alder, red oak and quarter-sawn oak—and dozens of stained and glazed finishes to choose from. Since each wood has its own unique qualities, your designer can help you choose the wood and finish that best fits your idea of a dream kitchen.

What's the difference between your cabinets and those I can find at Home Depot?
Our cabinet specifications spell out the details that set Schroll cabinetry apart from cabinets you might find elsewhere. In addition to superior craftsmanship, Schroll offers endless customization. We build your cabinet order just for you. But most important are the benefits of working with a local, family-owned business and a well-trained professional designer. Renowned Schroll service and our personal attention to your special project are only available at Schroll Cabinets.

How durable are your cabinets?
We use furniture-quality joinery in our construction—rabbets, dadoes, dovetails, and mortise-and-tenon joints—to assure that your new cabinets are solid and sturdy. Our hinges and drawer glides have been tested to withstand more than 100,000 openings and closings. Interiors are constructed of thermally fused maple-grain laminate, an exceptionally durable and water-resistant wood composite. And our stains and topcoat finishes are state-of-the-art and will continue to look fabulous for many years to come.

Are your cabinets made to handle the arid conditions of the West?
If there's one thing we're picky about, it's wood. Our raw materials are dried to a specific moisture content and are well-prepared for the climate here in the Rocky Mountain West. We also use joinery techniques designed to preserve the structural integrity of your cabinets, despite the environmental stresses of temperature and humidity.

How long will it take to get my cabinets?
Remember, every Schroll cabinet is custom made. The manufacturing process typically takes about six weeks or so from the time you sign the purchase contract, but it can take longer during peak production times. Please allow sufficient time in your construction schedule for your cabinet delivery.

Will my cabinets be delivered on time?
Your designer will advise you of a projected delivery week when you place your order. As that date nears, your designer will give you a specific date and time of day to expect your delivery. Our shipping manager does a great job of delivering your cabinets on time. We can't control the wind and snow, so you may have to be ready for a day's delay if we run into inclement weather.

Who delivers my new Schroll cabinets?
For local orders, your cabinets will be delivered by Schroll employees in Schroll company trucks. The cabinets are wrapped at the factory and handled with great care in transit.

After my cabinets arrive, will I need space to store them before they're installed?
Yes. Your trim carpenter will need some elbow room to unwrap the cabinets and stage his installation. It's best to time the delivery of the cabinets so that your carpenter is ready for them when they arrive. If this is not possible, you'll need a heated storage area.

Will Schroll install my cabinets?
Your on-site contractor or his or her trim carpenter will install your cabinets. We will provide your installer with detailed floorplans and elevations to help you achieve a professional finished product.

How do I pay for my cabinet order?
We require a 50 percent down payment payable by cash or check. The balance is due at delivery and will be collected by our drivers.

Are there any dos and don'ts for cleaning my Schroll cabinets?
Mild soap and water is usually all you need for day-to-day cleaning. Along with your cabinets you'll receive a Home Touch-up Kit, which includes our Schroll Polish to keep your cabinets looking their best.

Do you provide the cabinet knobs and pulls?
Typically, yes. We have two complete catalogs of knobs and pulls from which to choose. On the other hand, some of our clients prefer the look of unadorned wood doors and ask that we fabricate an unobtrusive 'finger rout' into the doors and drawers in lieu of knobs and pulls. You are also welcome to provide your own hardware if you have something very specific in mind. Your doors and drawers can arrive with holes pre-drilled for hardware, though we often advise that your trim carpenter do the drilling on-site if you have chosen several different knobs and pulls for a more custom look.

What does a Schroll designer do?
Your designer will ask all the right questions to help determine your wants and needs. It's their job to know all the ins and outs of kitchen design, from the practical necessities of plumbing and electricity to the purely aesthetic considerations of color and texture choices. They will develop a plan that makes optimum use of your available space while creating an exciting, inspirational room in which to live and work.

I'm already working with an interior designer (or a kitchen designer). Do I still need a Schroll designer?
Your Schroll designer has very specific knowledge of how our cabinetry works in the overall scheme of a design. You'll need someone with technical knowledge of our specific design parameters, even if you've employed an interior designer to create your overall design theme. If you'd like, your Schroll designer will work with your interior designer to make sure design details are in harmony.

What about countertops?
Schroll offers many countertop options, including granite, Silestone, Corian, Mystera, soapstone and slate. We also carry a fine line of kitchen sinks and faucets from Blanco. Ask your designer if the countertop you want is available in your area. Your designer can also give you an idea of what your countertops will cost.

Will my Schroll designer help me decide on flooring and appliances, too?
Your Schroll designer is very familiar with most appliance manufacturers and can help you determine your specific needs. They can help you narrow down the vast array of choices and steer you toward the appliance types that will make your new kitchen efficient and beautiful. Flooring and tile choices are typically left up to experts in those fields, though you'll find that your designer probably has a helpful opinion about all aspects of your project.

What happens if I have a problem?
Call your designer and explain your concerns. He or she will confer with the Schroll team to answer your questions and resolve your issues in a timely manner.

How much should I plan to spend on my cabinetry?
It is difficult to declare an "average" price for a Schroll kitchen, as our extensive line allows us to create so many different combinations. But, for budgeting purposes, it's probably safe to say that you can expect to spend about $7,000 to $12,000 for a starter kitchen and about $25,000 to $35,000 for a well-outfitted custom kitchen. It's not unusual for our clients to spend upwards of $75,000 to $100,000 or more, especially if we are providing cabinetry for other rooms such as a library, laundry room, baths, etc.

Why should I invest in Schroll Custom Cabinetry?
We think your home should be a nurturing place for the soul as well as a reflection of your personality. Well-designed cabinetry is not only beautiful, it is also highly utilitarian, making your life easier through efficient storage and organization. Custom cabinetry, coupled with the talents of our creative, professional designers, can help you make your home as unique as you are.
