Red oak is a product of nature and will include numerous color hues, grain patterns and other natural characteristics. Raw oak pieces can have a color variation from light tan to pink, red and dark brown. Many stains help in blending these variations but in lighter finishes, particularly Natural, the variation can be obvious. Mineral stains are common oak characteristics that cannot be entirely eliminated when selecting wood for cabinetry.
