Hard maple is a product of nature and will include numerous color hues, grain patterns and other natural characteristics. Maple accepts penetrating stains in varying degrees. Different wood pieces and often the same piece can have areas of inconsistent penetration. This is a natural characteristics that should be considered desirable when ordering Sand or other stained maple. Mineral streaks are common maple characteristics that cannot be entirely eliminated when selecting wood for cabinetry.
* Prairie Schooner and Praire Snow are solid color wood finishes. Varying natural wood properties that are not apparent when using penetrating stains will become obvious with solid color wood finishes. Wood is constantly expanding and contracting. With stained woods, expansion and contraction does not present any noticeable issues. With the Prairie solid color finishes, however, slight hairline cracks at face frame joints and door joints as well as panel contraction lines can become apparent. Moreover, natural wood characteristics such as grain patterns may become more obvious with solid color finishes. These hairline cracks and natural wood characteristics are considered part of the overall desired finish effect and cannot be covered under product warranty.
