Quarter sawing takes more time and skill as well as larger logs, making this a premium choice. Our finishes replicate authentic Mission style wood stains. The top coat sheen is flat, directing attention to this wood's remarkable grain.

"Quarter sawing" oak means milling the wood against the grain, which produces this wood's sumptuous "ray fleck" pattern. Raw oak pieces can have a color variation from light tan to pink, red and dark brown. Mineral stains are common oak characteristics that cannot entirely be eliminated when selecting wood for cabinetry.
