Hard maple is a product of nature and will include numerous color hues, grain patterns and other natural characteristics. Maple accepts penetrating stains in varying degrees. Different wood pieces and often the same piece can have areas of inconsistent penetration. This is a natural characteristics that should be considered desirable when ordering stained maple. Mineral streaks are common maple characteristics that cannot be entirely eliminated when selecting wood for cabinetry.
