CABINET BOX CONSTRUCTION
Cabinet Boxes are assembled using Schroll’s interlocking dado box construction™ method. Cabinet sides, backs, bottoms and frames are dadoed and rabbeted to interlock with adjoining cabinet components. Interlocking components are bonded together using a high-quality polyamide hot-melt adhesive. Base cabinets have 3/4-inch solid wood corner blocks. This construction method results in superior box strength.
Cabinet Interiors are produced with decorative wood-grain foil that has been impregnated with a melamine resin. The decorative wood-grain melamine is applied to substrate with adhesive and is pressure-rolled. The interior pattern replicates the look of natural maple.
All our industrial particle board is a certified Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP). EPP is a certification from the Composite Panel Association (CPA). Certification requirements meet or exceed CPA 2-06 Specification for Environmentally Preferable Products.
Sides are 1/2-inch, certified EPP industrial particle board overlayed on cabinet interior side with decorative wood-grain melamine. Finished sides have matching hardwood veneer on exterior.
Shelves are 3/4-inch certified EPP industrial particle board overlayed both sides with decorative wood-grain melamine. All shelf front edges are banded with .018mm PVC edging. Base shelves are 1/2 cabinet depth. Adjustable shelf holes are 8mm in diameter and drilled with 32mm spacing. Shelves rest on steel pegs.
Backs are 3/8-inch, certified EPP industrial particle board overlayed on cabinet interior side with decorative wood-grain melamine.
Tops and Bottoms are 1/2-inch certified EPP industrial particle board with decorative wood-grain melamine.
Cabinet exteriors have a high-quality, hand-wiped stain. A high-solids vinyl-modified conversion sealer is applied, then hand-sanded and top-coated with a catalyzed conversion varnish. Conversion varnish provides superior wood finishes.
FACE-FRAME CONSTRUCTION
Face Frames are select solid 3/4-inch kiln-dried hardwoods. Rail and stile joints use a hidden mortise and rounding tenon. All joints are glued and pinned. Stiles have a 3/8-inch trimmable scribe. Stiles are dadoed to receive cabinet sides. Rails are rabbetted to receive cabinet tops and bottoms. Cabinets 27–36-inches wide have butt doors with no center rail. Cabinets over 36-inch wide have a 3-inch center rail. This construction method results in superior frame strength.
DRAWER CONSTRUCTION
Drawer Boxes are 5/8-inch medium density fiberboard (MDF) overlayed with decorative wood-grain melamine. Drawer box is assembled with wood dowels. Drawer bottoms are 1/4-inch MDF overlayed with decorative wood-grain melamine and glued into dadoed sides and backs. Drawer Fronts are select solid 3/4-inch kiln-dried hardwood. Fronts are attached to drawer box with mounting screws. Drawers are assembled in-house by Schroll craftsmen.
DOOR CONSTRUCTION
Doors are select solid 3/4-inch kiln-dried hardwoods. Stiles and rails are assembled with cope-and-stick joints. Hardwood panels are floating for expansion and contraction. Consult your designer for individual style specifications. Stile and rail doors are made in-house by Schroll craftsmen.
