Drawers
Quality cabinet drawers are constructed for strength and durablity. This ensures that the drawer box won't warp or come apart with everyday use. Inferior drawers are made of particleboard and may be stapled or glued at the corners.
The mechanism that opens and closes the drawer is just as important as the drawer itself. Look for steel drawer slides for durability, with ball bearings and steel rollers for smooth operation. Open and close the drawer a few times; it should glide effortlessly. Also make sure the slides are mounted under the drawer. Undermounting distributes the weight more evenly, looks better and allows the drawer to be wider for more storage area.
These days, most cabinetmakers actually buy their drawers from drawer companies. At Schroll, we still craft our own drawers in-house so we can be confident of their quality and durability.
